Harriett Moore Boyd

I was using my husband’s pocket camera, a Canon GX7 for a few months, but never really warmed to it. He’s been photographing for years, while I was content to watch. That all changed in March 2025 when we went into Wex in Belfast to get a trail cam for our garden.

There was something there and I was not sure what it was. Turned out to be a grey Squirrel. While in the shop
with my husband Cyril Boyd. I saw a Nikon Zfc in the case, Small, light, and not too expensive, with the added bonus that all my husband’s lens would fit it. So no trail cam was purchased, and I’ve been taking photos since.

I love nature photography, especially when there are unexpected surprises in the photo once it’s up on the bigger computer screen – a fly, a spider or some other drama going on.

I joined Drogheda Photographic Club in 2025 and I’ve enjoyed my novice year particularly with the support, help and kindness of many members, and the
excellent online course with JEDS every week. I also have the benefit of many years experience from my husband Cyril Boyd, though we process on different computers!

I shot in Jpeg until December 2025, when I upgraded to a Nikon Zf, and now shoot in RAW. My photographs are all taken in Ireland, and Wales. I am starting studio shoots this year to increase my range and knowledge.
